Our Process

Our Process

Step 1 - Discovery

We start by trying to understand as much as we can about what really matters to you and your family. What are you passionate about?  What drives you? What keeps you up at night? What would you do if money was not an option?  We’ll help you identify and articulate the answers to these challenging questions.  We'll also use tools such as our Confidential Questionnaire and Life Transitions Survey to gain a complete understanding of your current financial picture.  Through this process of discovery we are able to develop a clear idea of where you are today and where you want to be tomorrow. What we learn will drive the entire planning process as we move forward together.

Step 2 - Development

Using the information we gather during the Discovery process, we'll take a comprehensive look at the tangible financial elements that make up your life such as your investments, taxes, insurance, retirement, and estate.  After hours of careful counsel and using the expertise of our team members, we'll develop a highly customized roadmap, or plan, for getting you from where you are today to where you want to be tomorrow.  Our goal is to develop a plan that is realistic, achievable and helpful in mitigating any risks that are inherent to your situation.  Most importantly, we will make sure the plan is actionable and capable of being implemented.  During this phase we are often in contact via email or telephone to gather additional information (if necessary) or to clarify issues that pertain to the successful development of your plan.  There may also be the need for additional face-to-face meetings to complete this step in the process.

Step 3 - Delivery

Once the plan is complete we will schedule a meeting to present it to you.  Depending on the complexity of the plan there may be an additional meeting required to finalize the Delivery phase.  At this meeting we will review our assumptions, analysis and recommendations with you.  We will also review the Action Plan which clearly describes the steps required for successful implementation of the plan.  If the plan needs to be changed or updated in any way we will gather the appropriate information and rework the plan.  No plan is complete until both parties agree that it is the right plan with the right solutions.

Step 4 - Deployment

The most important part of any successful plan is the Deployment phase.  To be effective, the plan must be implemented and it may take several weeks, months or years.  It often involves coordination with other advisors such as your CPA, attorney, insurance broker or banker.  Since planning is a dynamic, continuous process, it is important to regularly review the progress that has been made and to update the plan to accommodate any changes that will occur in your personal situation.  At this point clients may choose to handle the implementation of the plan themselves.  However, we find that most clients choose to retain Greenspring Wealth Management for ongoing Private Money Management or comprehensive Wealth Management Services.  With this scenario, Greenspring Wealth Management will be responsible for managing the implementation process associated with plan.   Fees for implementation services are billed separately and according to our fee schedule.
